Before you wash anything

Always follow the care label sewn into your piece first. It reflects the exact fibre, weave, colour and finish of that product. What follows is general good practice for everyday textiles — where the label says something different, the label wins.

Bedsheets & covers

Wash similar colours together on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, and avoid bleach. Do not overfill the machine so the fabric can move freely. Line dry in shade where you can, and iron on the reverse of printed fabric.

Curtains

Vacuum or shake lightly between washes. Remove hooks and rings before washing, protect trims and eyelets, and use a low spin. Rehang while slightly damp so the folds settle, and keep them out of harsh midday sun while drying.

Towels

Wash new towels separately before first use. Use a little less detergent than you think you need and skip fabric softener, which can coat the fibres and reduce absorbency. Shake them out and dry thoroughly before folding.

Cushion covers

Remove the insert and turn the cover inside out. Protect embroidery and surface detail with a gentle machine wash in a laundry bag, or a careful hand wash. Treat marks promptly, reshape while damp and store completely dry.

Home essentials

Check the product page and the label for the specific care of each piece. When in doubt, wash cool, wash gently and dry in the shade.
